Exact duplicates are skipped automatically on import. Possible duplicates (similar amount, date and description) are kept for a person. You compare both records and keep, link, exclude or defer each one. Source records are never deleted.
Steps
- Open a signal to compare the two records.
- Choose the decision and give a reason.
- The decision, actor and time are recorded.
What you get
Duplicates no longer distort totals, and the evidence for both rows is preserved.
Who can do this
Owners, admins, accountants and bookkeepers can make changes; managers and viewers can only view.
If something goes wrong
- Two real payments share a date and amount.
- Keep both. Same date and amount alone never justify excluding a record.
Terms used here
- Duplicate signal
- Two imported rows that look like the same activity. Exact duplicates are skipped on import; possible duplicates are kept for a person to decide.
